Mosquito Control
Mosquitoes only need a bottle cap of standing water to breed, so the fix isn't just spraying the yard, it's finding where they're coming from and shutting that down.
Natural, guaranteed pest control — free no-obligation quotes, no contract, safe around kids and pets.
Signs You Need This
How to tell it's time to call
You don't need to see a swarm to have a mosquito problem worth treating. Watch for bites showing up during the day, not just at dusk, since species like the Asian tiger mosquito are aggressive daytime biters that hide in shaded shrubs and come out when you walk past. Check your gutters, plant saucers, tarps, unused planters, and any low spots in the yard for water sitting more than a few days, that's a breeding site whether or not you've spotted larvae in it. If you've stopped using the patio or backyard in the early evening because it's not worth the bites, or your kids or pets are coming in scratching after ten minutes outside, that's a clear sign it's past the point of citronella candles and bug spray.

The Full Picture
A backyard mosquito problem almost never starts with the mosquitoes flying in from somewhere else. It starts with water sitting somewhere on the property, sometimes only a bottle cap's worth, in a clogged gutter, a tarp with a low fold, a saucer under a potted plant, a kiddie pool nobody drained, or a rain barrel without a screen on top. A female mosquito can lay a raft of eggs in water that small, and in warm weather those eggs go from egg to biting adult in about a week to ten days. That's why a single fogging treatment fades fast: it kills what's flying that day but does nothing about the next generation already developing 6 m away.
As your exterminator, our approach treats the whole cycle, not just the adults you're swatting at on the patio. We find and address the standing water driving the problem, treat the vegetation where mosquitoes rest between blood meals, and keep coming back on a schedule that matches your local mosquito season, whether that's April through October or closer to year-round. If you're still getting bitten between visits, we return and treat again free of charge. No fine print, no contract you have to break to leave.
Our Approach
As your pest controllers, we start by walking the property with you and pointing out exactly where mosquitoes are breeding and resting, so you can see the problem instead of just taking our word for it. For water you can't drain or remove, like ornamental ponds or low spots that hold rain, we use a larvicide called Bti, a naturally occurring soil bacteria that kills mosquito larvae and nothing else, harmless to birds, fish, pets, and pollinators. For the adult population, we apply a plant-based barrier treatment, built around oils like cedar, geraniol, and garlic, to the shaded foliage, mulch beds, and under-deck areas where mosquitoes rest during the day. It knocks down existing mosquitoes and keeps discouraging new ones from moving in between visits. Treatments run on a seasonal schedule, typically every three to four weeks through mosquito season, and there's no contract locking you in. If mosquitoes are still a problem between scheduled visits, we come back and treat again at no extra cost. Not sure where the standing water is coming from? A property inspection finds every breeding spot before we treat.

Treatment Options & Products We Use
Treatment Options
Because mosquito breeding sites are often smaller and better hidden than people expect, effective treatment layers several methods rather than relying on one spray.
- Source reduction: before any product goes down, we walk the property identifying and eliminating standing water that can simply be removed, tipping containers, clearing gutters, puncturing low folds in tarps, since removing the water removes the breeding site permanently instead of treating around it.
- Larvicide treatment: for water that can't be drained, like ornamental ponds, rain barrels, or grading that holds water after every rain, a larvicide is applied directly to the water, targeting the larval stage before it becomes a biting adult.
- Barrier and perimeter treatment: vegetation, mulch beds, and shaded rest areas around the property perimeter are treated to knock down the resting adult population and create a buffer zone mosquitoes have to cross to reach the yard.
- Misting systems: for properties with heavy, recurring pressure, an automated misting system can be installed around the perimeter, releasing a fine treatment on a timer or remote trigger during peak activity hours (typically dawn and dusk) without needing a technician on-site for every application.
Treatments are timed to the mosquito life cycle. Since eggs can go from hatch to biting adult in about a week in warm weather, service intervals are set to intercept each new generation before it matures, not just to knock down whatever's flying that day.
Products & Methods We Use
- Bti-based larvicides (a naturally occurring bacteria) for standing water that can't be drained or removed
- Plant-based barrier sprays built around oils like cedar and geraniol for perimeter vegetation and resting sites
- Automated misting systems for properties with heavy or recurring mosquito pressure
- Backpack and truck-mounted sprayers for barrier applications across larger properties
- Mosquito dunks and granular larvicides for containers and low spots that hold water intermittently
- Insect growth regulators (IGRs) for breeding sites where preventing maturation works better than killing larvae directly
- Source-reduction guidance identifying containers, drainage issues, and vegetation contributing to the property's breeding sites

Frequently Asked About Mosquito Control
How much does mosquito control cost?
Cost depends on the size of the property, how much standing water and vegetation needs treating, and whether it's a one-time treatment or a seasonal plan. A single visit typically runs in the low-to-mid hundreds of dollars, but most people end up on a recurring plan billed every three to four weeks through mosquito season, since a single treatment fades fast once new eggs hatch nearby.
Is mosquito treatment safe for kids and pets to be around?
Yes — we use Bti, a naturally occurring soil bacteria, for standing water that can't be drained, which targets mosquito larvae specifically and is harmless to birds, fish, pets, and pollinators. For adult mosquitoes, the barrier treatment applied to shaded foliage and resting areas is plant-based, built around oils like cedar, geraniol, and garlic, rather than a synthetic chemical fog across the whole yard.
Can I control mosquitoes myself with citronella candles and yard sprays?
Citronella and store-bought yard sprays can knock back activity for an evening, but they don't address the actual source, standing water where new mosquitoes develop every week. A female mosquito can lay a raft of eggs in as little as a bottle cap of water, and those eggs become biting adults in about a week to ten days in warm weather, so unless every spot of standing water is found, DIY treatment is working against a constant new supply.
How long does mosquito treatment take, and how long do results last?
A treatment visit itself typically takes under an hour for an average yard, covering standing water, vegetation, and resting areas. The barrier treatment generally holds for three to four weeks before it needs reapplying, which is why service runs on that cycle through the season — a one-time treatment only kills what's flying that day and doesn't stop the next generation already developing nearby.
How do I know if I have a real mosquito problem versus just a few bites here and there?
If you're getting bitten during the day, not just at dusk, that often points to an aggressive daytime biter like the Asian tiger mosquito hiding in shaded shrubs. Check gutters, plant saucers, tarps, and low spots in the yard for water sitting more than a few days, that's an active breeding site whether or not you've seen larvae in it. If you've stopped using your patio in the evening because of bites, that's past the point where candles and spray fix it.
What's the difference between mosquito fogging and the treatment you use?
Fogging kills adult mosquitoes on contact but doesn't touch eggs or larvae already developing in standing water nearby, so results fade within days as the next generation hatches. Our approach treats the whole cycle: Bti for larvae in water that can't be drained, a plant-based barrier treatment on resting vegetation for adults, and identification of standing water sources so they can be eliminated at the root instead of just knocked down temporarily.
